Jirora Ca Phe is a cafe event that focuses on providing a fantastical experience through my love for culinary arts, culture, graphic design, and community connection. What once started as a birthday theme of doing an apartment cafe became so much more.

Into the Garden is the first Jirora Ca Phe event; it is a curated experience for guests centered around beverages as an art form.

The event was inspired by Tiankeng, also known as the "Heavenly Pit." These are known as sinkholes in China - the largest one known as Xiaozhai contains a thriving virgin forest that harvests over 1,200 plant and animal species. These ecosystems have been untouched for centuries offering biologists pristine habitats for discovering new or prehistoric species.

Inspired by this phenomenon, Into the Garden is a look into the Tiankeng where guests will uncover elevated beverages and complementary snacks that they cannot find anywhere else.

PREPARATION

"Into the Garden" was a highly involved undertaking that required extensive planning and coordination. The development process began in October 2024 in preparation for the March 2025 event. My approach starts with conceptualizing the overall aesthetic through sketches and mood boards, which help define the table setting and atmosphere.

For beverage development, I typically establish a distinct color palette for each drink before selecting ingredients that best complement the intended visual and sensory experience. Every aspect of the event is carefully considered, from the moment guests arrive to the conclusion of the evening. More than a presentation of food and beverages, the event was designed as a thoughtfully curated experience that fostered meaningful connections while encouraging creativity, engagement, and a sense of community.
